  1. Yes it's too much water.  If you continue to water a cactus every day you will most likely kill it. Cacti don't need water every day. You shouldn't water any house plant once a day unless it is outside in hot conditions and only if they are something other than succulents.  By succulents I mean plants that have fleshy leaves with thick cuticles.  These plants are made for hot dry conditions and need watering anywhere from once a week in the case of most euphorbiaceae(poinsettia is an exception) to once a month, to even every several months.  I only water my barrel cactus during the winter about every three months and they do just fine. As it gets to be spring I ramp up on the watering at the time of blooming to about once a week.  So it really depends on the plant in that case.

  2. In the heat of summer my trichocereus like to be watered every day or every other day, but as the weather cools and they begin their dormant stage i cut back or stop watering at all.

  3. Water it only when it becomes dry.. feel the planting medium about 1 "

below the surface it it is still moist Don't water it, wait until it feels dry.  The damage from over watering is a killer of the cactus if it's under watered the damage is easier to correct.  You can tell it lacks water when the plant begins to shrivel up.  Always make sure to have drainage holes in bottom of the pot and never let it sit in the saucer with water in it.

  4. It depends how much water you are giving the plant, and the temperature of the room.  You can tell if it needs watering from the condition of the compost.

  5. i think so, yeah.

  6. yes! let the soil dry out completely between watering.

  7. Some cactus plants do not require any watering at all. Some, however, only need water when they start to get smaller. Others will take all the water you can give them.

Check with your supplier and they will tell you which type you have.
