Is web diversion only for the Uk?

I have a website by geocities, but I want to get a dot com address, however a number of sites are linked to my original geocities address, and I do not want to mask as I've heard that google will kick you off if they see a redirection.

Anyhow, does anyone use Web Diversion?

  1. I'm not sure where you've heard that but Google certainly won't kick you off for using a legitimate redirect! I've just redirected hundreds of pages from an old site to a new one and nearly all of the pages have actually climbed up the rankings and none (that I know of) have gone down. If you make sure your old site returns a 301 (permanently moved) header to your new site then you won't be penalised in my experience.
