  1. i don't know how people can get it, we knew of a tourist who had his wife give birth here (for citizenship of the child) and gave birth for free in a county hospital, and, take note AND got wic!!! even tourists get to use wic! geez!!!

also, some people who have wic and get all those free milk, cheese etc regularly end up just wasting all these why? because it was free! i'm sure if it was their money they used to buy groceries they wouldn't waste any of it.

  2. These programs were originally designed as emergency, temporary assistance for people who ran into financial difficulty -- mothers who were suddenly widowed or abandoned by their husbands; people temporarily disabled due to major illness/injuries, or permanently disabled until their Social Security benefits began, etc.  Before you know it, its single moms, pregnant teens, etc. and multi-generational welfare households.

Over 40% of the people in the US collect from one or more public assistance/taxpayer-funded income transfer program.  In other words, more than 40% are dependent on those who are working, productive members of society (who mostly are supporting their own families, too!)

Where is the money going to come from to support the leeches?  Taxes are killing most workers as it is.  They are barely getting by in so many cases now.  Now, welfare, etc are supposed to be limited to a lifetime max of 5 years.

Welfare systems inevitably allow some people to take advantage of others -- this is the major difference between charity as temporary assistance for people facing emergencies vs govt support programs.  Govt support programs inevitably lead to a country's financial collapse unless abolished.

  3. First of all WIC is more all those mom's that are pregnant or have a child. It's not living off the government. It gives you and your child the food that they should be eating so that they can eat right.

Welfare and foodstamps is for people who really cannot get a job, are on disability and other problems. Why live off of welfare your whole life instead of working. People who can work and are living off of welfare and foodstamp ARE lazy people.

  4. 10% of the U.S. population qualifies for foodstamps, that's how poor we are as a country now.  Only 2% actually go get the foodstamps.  Think about it.

  5. No,it's for Americans who need a little help which is why I get so angry when illegal aliens are taking so much from it. It's paid for by the American tax payers.

By the way, any American receiving cash assistance has to be actively seeking work and trying to get back on their feet and the amount is far too little to live on.

P.S spell check is a wonderful thing, don't be too lazy to use it.

  6. They get it because they don't work, and have a million excuses not to work. There are people who have been on welfare for generations. It not special privileges, you cannot let the children suffer for the irresponsibility of the parents.

  7. There are situations where some people experience difficult times in there lives and this is the reason assistance was developed. However in the society we live in the majority of people abuse this system and spend more time manipulating the system instead of furthering themselves. Why should I have to work a regular job when I can go on welfare and work under the table without paying taxes. The values of todays society is just a representation of the direction we are going in as a country.  Allow the Dems to control this nation and I for one will quit my two jobs and collect welfare and any othe benifit I can Lie about.

  8. Nah.. my mom used WIC when we were growing up, but it wasnt for us, she owned a daycare bussiness in our house.

  9. These services were designed for people who needed them for medical or physical or physiological or financial or... reasons. I have no problem helping people out but 58% of welfare going to criminal invaders is ridiculous! Time to take out the trash(criminal invaders) and the garbage (Washington politicians). Then we can get back to helping the needy who actually need a hand!

  10. You have to be practically destitute to get this.

I like to think that most people aren't lazy, just maybe down on their luck, although I do know of women who keep having kids to get more money.  No, it's not right, and it makes the people that really need it look bad.

If nobody worked, where would the funds come from to help the people that really need it?

  11. get real  i wish i could quit my crappy job and get  welfare  but since  im not lazy  i have to work

  12. Chelsea L., you’ve asked a great question, but please brace yourself because some of the answers you get might seem a little mean.  You see, this is a very touchy subject and the topic of many heated political debates.  Our Constitution entitles us all to certain Rights which include Liberty, Justice, and the Pursuit of Happiness.  In a perfect world, everyone would have these things.  In the real world; however, all men aren’t created equal.  Some were born with mental or physical disabilities that prevent them from being able to work or find a job that will allow them to support their families.  Others may have been injured emotionally or physically defending our Liberty.  So, in good conscience, our Constitution must also “Promote the General Welfare” of the common man.  What this means is that the Government established Social Programs that help people when they can’t help themselves.  Unfortunately there are some people who are clever and find ways to abuse the system, but for the most part, the compassion that these programs provide strengthens us as a Nation.  If we were to turn our back on those less fortunate than us I believe that we would quickly lose our status as the worlds most feared and respected Nation. It is great that you are curious and are asking questions like these, just be sure to be open to both sides of the equation before coming to a conclusion.  Keep studying and take care!

  13. I think you're the lazy person.

    Too lazy to spell correctly.

  14. WTF are you talking about.  first of all learn about the programs you are talking about before you talk c**p on them.  My sister and I waorked full time, her 40 hrs and me 45 hours a week when we first got on WIC.  How is that lazy?  Thats not lazy, its called poor!  I was making $20,000/yr which in california is just a little more than it costs to rent a 1 bedroom not to mention utilities, car, food, diapers, etc.

Welfare isn't meant for the lazy either.  Where I live they require 32 hours a week minimum or work or school.  Welfare is meant to be a temporary helping hand and that is why there is a 5 yr or less time limit.

No every one cant go on welfare because not everyone would qualify you ignorant prude.  Unless you have children, you can only get food stamps for a couple months if you aren't working, otherwise you have to be working.  Welfare and food stamps are for very poor families or single mothers and let me tell you just 32 hours a week and raising children on your own is hard work so don't call anyone lazy if you dont know them
