Is what I'm doing a good way to loose weight?

I am 14, turning 15 this year. I weigh 165 pounds. I go to the gym 3 times a week, I do 15 minutes on the treadmill burning 120 calories, and 15 minutes on the rowing machine also burning 120 calories (the rowing machine isn't as tiring). Afterwords, I swim 20 lengths for 20 minutes. I stopped eating junk food and drinking pop (besides Arizona Green Tea). I also drink around 2 and a half liters of water each day. I sleep for 7 hours. Is what I'm doing a good way to loose weight? Also what should I use for the chest and stomach?

  1. Well, i'm not sure if you are a boy or girl or your height.  Most importantly don't know your body fat % so not sure how much if any weight you should be losing.  But in general, what you are doing sounds ok (as long as the treadmill is running) for cardio and sounds like your nutrition is improving.  You should add some light resistance training as well.  You can start with pushups for chest and crunches/ab ball for stomach.  Let me know if you need more tips

  2. What your doing is fine for cardio. Would be better if you didn't switch exercises so much and just stuck with one at a time for 45-60 minutes. 15 year olds shouldn't really worry too much about building muscle but stick to full body compound movements instead of worry about different body parts.

    Clean and Press

    Squats

    Bench Press

    Lunges

    Military Press

    etc...

  3. Because you are still growing you should get your parents to take you to see a nutritionist, etc... to make sure you can lose weight the right way.  There is more to diet that not eating junk foods.  You need to stay away from/limit all processed foods, foods that have HFCS or that are hydrogenated.  Typically, you should have a balanced diet of fruits, veg, grains, and protein.  Protein is the key for developing muscle and toning....specifically if you are looking for a firmer tummy.  And while working on the treadmill and swimming is great!  You should also try doing some strength training (weights, crunches, etc.)

    Good Luck!
