Question:

Is what I'm feeling normal pregnancy pelvic pressure/pain?

So, I am 35 weeks pregnant. Last night I went to the mall with my hubby and did some shopping and a lot of walking. I woke up in the middle of the night due to the need to urinate and when I got up out of bed to stand up, I felt a really painful pressure feeling in my pelvic area.

I'm confused because I know that it is common to get pressure and pain in the pubic bone as pregnancy progresses, but I'm not exactly sure if the pain I'm feeling is my pubic bone or not.

The pain is located on left side of my v****a. So, if you follow your left inner thigh all the way up to your vaginal area, that is where my pain is. Does this sound like the pubic bone to you? I thought the pubic bone was up higher and more infront of the body?

The research I have found said that too much exercise can cause pain in the pubic bone, and it means that rest is needed. I am confused because it started in the middle of night while I was resting. And is still going on. It does feel better when I lay down or sit.

I see my doctor soon, so I'll definately be asking her about it. If you could shine some light on your experiences too, I would appreciate it. Thanks so much!

  1. hiya, yes unfortunately the excersise u did yesterday may of caused ur pain.

my experiance was alil simular to your. around the same time as u my hips started to hurt and my left leg sometimes went numb, or i had shooting pains down it. the reason was because my baby had moved down and was 'engaged' this means his head was in my pelvic and was putting pressure on different nerves. this often ment that my would either go numb or be in pain. also ur body will be creating more relaxin hormone which makes ur joints ie hips loosen up ready for childbirth but this can cause some problems occasionally.

yes ask your doctor and please relax and take it easy. not long now till your baby will be in ur arms

  2. I think you are right you have exerted a lot and to me it sounds like a muscle pull.

put some vicks and take a lot of rest my dear you dont want any complications when you are so near the whole thing.

  3. Hun, once your down to your last few weeks your going to feel pain/pressure ALL DOWN in that area!!!! And I mean EVERYWHERE. Im 38 wks and sometimes when i stand up theres soo much pressure it feel like my whole uterus is going to fall out (not literally). Or that someone is spreading my hips apart. You go through soo many aches and pains but its all normal. Especially when you do excessive amounts of walking. Its all in preparation for your new baby. So your ok. Dont worry.
