Is what came before philosophy, classified as darkness?

The historical approach would have us believe that, no, what came before had redeeming qualities which spared this primitive mindset from being classified as darkness.  This represents the prevailing mindset.

Yet, the historical perspective does philosophy an injustice.  One which Rand herself failed (surprisingly) to recognize (apparently).

what came before philosophy is QUESTIONS, philosophy is just a bunch of  answers from different souses....you have to pick the one answer that you feel that answers the question best........

Perhaps it was enlightenment, before philosophy caused us to question all things.

We have always asked questions about the world around us, and at some point in the past we began to call this pursuit of understanding Philosophy.

At one time Maths and Physics etc..were branches of Philosophy, as we have learned more we have broken them different categories and we can now give much more plausible explanations as to why things are as they are and howtheycould or should be.

So we are still in darkness to some extent but ever since the first thought we have slowly been turning up the dimmer switch.
