So my friend and i are playing pool, i have the eight ball left and he has one more regular ball left. He shoots, he hits in his 15 ball first, then the cue hits the eight ball and goes in. He claims he won because he made his shot first, then the 8 ball second but on the same shot. I say he doesn't, who is right?

  1. You are right!

He hit the eight ball with his cue! That's interference, moving the ball closer to the pocket to make the next shot easier.

    Or more likely cheating!

  2. Yes, you won the game on his foul.

Loss Game Fouls are: 8-ball potted early, 8-ball jumped off table anytime, 8-ball potted in wrong pocket, 8-ball potted on same stroke as last object ball.

From WORLD STANDARDIZED 8 BALL RULES

    4.19 PLAYING THE 8-BALL

When the 8-ball is the legal object ball, a scratch or foul is not loss of game if the 8-ball is not pocketed or jumped from the table. Incoming player has cue ball in hand.

Note: A combination shot can never be used to legally pocket the 8-ball, except when the 8-ball is the first legal object ball contacted in the shot sequence.

  3. not legal in my house!

  4. you are right and he had lost the game also becoz u cant keep black or 8 ball inside  the table once it os pot and game is over

  5. He lost.  The 8 ball always has to be a separate shot.  If it goes in off of another ball he loses the game.

  6. Here's the simple answer. YOU won! The 8-ball is ALWAYS an INDEPENDENT shot after your other balls have been made.

  7. If I understand y ou correctly, the cue ball struck his, sunk it, then struck the 8 and sunk that.  In most organized tournaments and leagues, that is not legal.  Typically the 8-ball has to be a seperate shot.  Now, there are instance where that would be considered legal, but those are cases of house rules, and they vary from house to house, but, he would have to call it.  If he did not call it that way, then under any set of rules he lost.
