Okay, so this friday is our homecoming football game. And, so all of the cheerleaders must learn a hip hop dance. So, today there was cheer practice.

So, me and the other girl in both volleyball and cheerleading we to cheer practice.

Because, the only thing in volleyball that was going to happen was practicing hitting. I'm a good hitter.

But, my coach and the varsity coach came storming into cheer practice and cursed and yelled at us that we needed to go to volleyball because it's more important. And, if we didn't we would be kicked off!!

So, my friend and I went to volleyball, but now we have no idea how to do the hip hop.

Did my coach have the right to threaten us like that?

  1. YES!  The volleyball team comes first. You never know when the coach is going to put something new in. What would happen if the two of you went to cheer leading, two other players went to Bible study. Still two more went to watch their boy friends play football. You need to commit to the team. The cheerleaders can find another time to practice. The volleyball practice was scheduled first. You're committed to that.

  2. No, I have to say it is not so fair to you. You are dedicated and wanted to do everything for your school, but they didn't even get to know why you skipped practice... before cursing you and forcing you back to the volleyball court.

I think I know how you feel, but unfortunately I also know how your coaches feel... so that I would have to say something for them after backing you up for the first second.

I believe if you were a coach you would have demanded similar respect, asking your players to at least let you make a decision. It hurts when a good hitter doesn't show up, no matter how good a reason she might have.

You just simply need to learn how to communicate to your coaches the next time similar situation comes up. Make them feel that they got the respect they deserved, by making the decision you what them to make :)

By the way, your decision to go back to volleyball court with them was good, which at least saved some face for them. Good job. They know you can manage to find someone teach you hip-hop after the practice, or later during the week.

  3. doesn't your school have a thing where you pick a main sport and you go to that practice over the other one??

    my school does.

your cheerleading coach should've defended you.

i guess you could learn the dance from one of your friends on the squad.

  4. I GUESS SO.

SHE DIDNT HAVE THE RIGHT TO CURSE,

    BUT PRACTICE IS VERY IMPORTANT.

YOU MAY THINK YOUR A GOOD HITTER, BUT EVERYONE CAN BE BETTER.

    TRY STICKING TO ONE SPORT.

OR YOU COULD'VE TALKED TO THE VOLLEYBALL COACH AHEAD OF TIME.

  5. The way your coach did it was wrong.  But, I understand it.  You also made a commitment to the volleyball team and you skipped practice.  Maybe the coach was putting in a new play for your next volleyball match.  You chose which practice to attend without any communication.

If I were your coach, I would not have confronted you like that.  But you would also be on the bench until you could prove to me that you cared about volleyball.  By choosing cheerleading over volleyball without any communication shows that you really do not care about volleyball.  I am not saying that cheerleading is not important.  However, communication is the most important thing you will learn in this matter.

  6. absolutely not both cheerliding & vollyball are important he should of knowen better then to go out cursing  and getting all mad i understand were your coming from =] and no it wasen't fair you should ask one of your cheerliding friends to teach you the moves

    hope i heleped

  7. you should have talked to both coaches before you skipped out on one so that they both knew the situation - other than that though you just have to make those decisions based on what is more important to you personally, not what is most important to your coach
