Is whey protien good for weight loss or weight gain.. I work out 5 times a week and I would like to get my muscles back up to par quicker without the soreness. I have been told that whey does it, but also it can hurt because the body burns off the protien instead of the fat. I drink water and keep hydrated and try not to push to far. But want that little extra without getting into enhancement drugs

  1. It depends on the meaning of your question. Are you looking for weight loss or fat loss.

Whey protein helps with muscle growth (as you know) so it will not help you lose weight. But if you are looking to lose fat than yes it is excellent for that, here is why.

We need muscle in order to burn fat. Muscle is a very active tissue, so burns fat even while resting. You need to have a certain amount of it in order to burn fat efficiently. Every pound of muscle you have will burn 50 extra calories per day.

Stick with your instinct, don't go near the enhancement drugs.

Good luck and all the best with achieving goals

  2. Whey protein isn't really good for weight loss. Why protein is used to help restore muscles after weight lifting. If you want to lose weight, you'll need to eat healthy and do plenty of cardio workouts.

Your muscles don't really get ripped during cardio workouts so whey protein won't be as efficient after, say, a jog as it would be after weight training.

Muscles don't feed off fat, they feed of protein and carbs.

  3. Whey protein is good for the preservation of muscle mass.  It doesn't help you lose weight, nor gain really, just preserves the muscle whilst losing fat if you're eating right.  Some might say that it helps to gain weight but really muscle just weighs more than fat so what you're "gaining" is the good stuff :)

  4. If you're serious about losing weight you MUST try Acai Berry! I first heard about on Oprah, and I ordered a 14-day FREE trial from this site. I've already lost some weight and I've got tons more energy.

  5. whey protein = energy

excess energy of any kind = weight gain

no protein has nothing to do with weight loss, and it doenst make u gain muscle otherwise id sit around drinking whey shakes and eating steak and look like arnold. i helps preserve muscle.
