  1. My friend has a widows peak, she's Scottish.

  2. Widows peaks have nothing to do with baldness. I'm a 42 year old male with all of my hair, and a widow's peak.

My 70+ year old grandfather had all of his hair when he died, and a widow's peak.

I think Wikipedia got that one wrong - not enough references.

  3. A widow's peak is a dominant trait while a straight hairline is a recessive trait.  A widow's peak isn't related to any particular ethnicity any more than dimples or a cleft chin.  Did you have in mind Transylvania?

    P. S. Richard Nixon, Abraham Lincoln, Vincent Van Gogh, Cary Grant, and Mikhail Baryshnikov had widow's peaks as well as many a man with a receding hairline*.  Jude Law and Guy Ritchie are contemporary examples of men with widow's peak hairlines.

*And a few women, too! A widow's peak is merely a pattern of hair loss known as androgenetic alopecia, or as it is better known in men "male pattern baldness".  The hairline recedes where hair is lost above the temples while the hair at the center of the scalp remains.  Although such hair loss occurs in families, it is also increased by a high calorie, high fat intake and a sedentary life style.  Few widow's peaks, or for that matter, hardly any other type of pattern baldness, is seen in hunter-gatherer societies.
