Is windows live messenger the same as normal windows or msn messenger?

I don't know how to add the normal one in my programs after I deleted the shortcut, so I downloaded windows live messenger, and now I don't know if I royally screwed my computer.

It does the same thing, you can paint a comment, and send different smileys. you can get a live email also but it works all the same!

Windows Live Messenger is MSN/Windows Messenger, but a little more advanced. It's not going to harm your computer in any way, unless someone attempts to send you a virus. But, other than that it won't do anything. It's features, though, are more entertaining, and it has more smileys.

MSN won't let you connect anymore anyway - I tried to download it the other day. Windows Live messenger is an upgrade of MSN messenger.

So you're safe, It's the exact same program, by the exact same publisher, just upgraded and updated with better features, and more functionality.
