Is windows vista good for gaming now?

I'm getting a new computer with vista and wanted to know if all the bugs are fixed and vista is good for gaming now

I have had Vista since it first came out and microsoft has done very little to fix anything.

yes it is.

initially there were problems with poor frame rates compared to xp. More games ran slowly in dx10

Since 10.1 came out this has largely been addressed

bear in mind that when you compare the two os's there remain some games that work better in xp and some that work better in vista, but the difference has largely levelled out in terms of the fps games are able to achieve since the 10.1 release.

Im not speculating by the way, if you google "dx9 vs dx 10 gaming" and limit your results to last 3 months you will see a number of articles that draw this out by running a number of games on the same hardware with each os and doing benchmarks to compare performance.

The advantage with dx10 is that you get the some extra eye candy.
