  1. With only 1gb of ram, I would recommend staying with XP. Your slow performance when installing it before most likely was due to not having enough memory (To achieve the same performance as XP with 1gb of ram would take more like 2 with Vista). Deleting XP is highly unlikely to provide any performance increases over what you experienced before.

  2. With the latest updates installed, Vista is usable; almost as stable as XP. Not great but much better than when it was first released.

You need to upgrade memory to at least 2 GB. Otherwise Vista is too slow to use.

  3. NIETHER DONT USE XP OR VISTA USE MAC!!!!!!!! Vista is worse than xp!!!!!!! Mac has 0 bugs and is extremely fast

  4. I use Vista Enterprise at work and it works just fine -- not sure why so many people were moaning about it?  Anyways, you can also install VMware or MS Virtual PC and run XP or any othr OS at the same time.  I run 5 OS's on mine every day.

The system I'm on right now only has 1 GB of RAM (I have XP and Linux on it).  My Vista computer at work has 4 GB of RAM.  I would not recommend upgrading to Vista with only 1 GB.  Instead, format and install XP, then install Virtual Pc and make a virtual XP install -- use the virtual XP and then when it starts getting slow just revert back to the start and it will be like formatting but only take about 20 seconds.
