Is windsurfing a dying sports?

I went back to Hawaii recently. I used to see several windsurfers at the Diamond Head beach. This time I didn't see any. Instead I saw some kite surfers.

I'm from Hawaii & i've also seen more kite surfing lately. I think it's just another addition to the surfing world. Like anything else, when something new comes along, everybody wants to try it. I'm sure they'll think of something different as time goes on and everyone will jump on that bandwagon too.

Windsurfing is not a dying sport by any means.  Kiteboarding is definitely a growing sport and is much easier to learn (although more dangerous), but windsurfing lives on.  There are many destinations where you will find windsurfing alive and well throughout the world including Hawaii (check out Maui north shore).
