  1. no it istn't but maybe it should be. There are a lot of very good players that opt out of the Olympics and that is a shame.

  2. no

  3. Yes, Olympics tennis event is considered to be an Official ATP Title. If you check the official ATP profile page of Nicolas Massu who won the Gold medal at Athens Olympics, you will see that his Gold medal is considered by the ATP as an Official Title.

  4. Nice find there on the ATP website. Does the olympics winner gain any ranking points? If so Federer has a slim chance of retaining his world number 1 ranking if he wins gold :p

if not he has to wait until paris masters for a chance at reclaiming number 1.

  5. Olympic Tennis Event is not an official ATP title because of many reasons, it is only played once in 4 years and the fact that the players play for a country, not for themselves. Also, the number of players are limited exampel 4 players... which is not gud for players especially those of Russian or Spanish nationality considering they have so many top players which will be left out and not have a chance to play for a title.

Although, I think it is a prestigious as a Grand Slam... the honor of winning for your own country is already a great achievement...

But olympics being ATP or WTA title is a gud idea but I doubt that will happen. Hey, at least they get points.

What I wonder is, whether those points will just drop next year since its not played.
