Is working aboard cruise ships totally tax free for a uk citizen ?

looking to raise monies for a deposit for a house will i be penalised for the money i bring into the country.

  1. i'm not a hundred percent on this but it used to be if your at least 6months out the year away from a british counrty then it's tax free. hope this is helpful x


  2. Depends on how long you stay out of the UK in a year.Think it is

    64 days allowed.

  3. Actually, depends where your registration is.

    If you work for a ship registered in the Bahamas you are not in the UK (Lots of ships are).

    Even for UK companies (and a good example is www.hardingbros.co.uk) you are registered in Gernsey or B.V.I, so you are tax free.

    I remember a few British coleagues working with me at Hardings and they didnt have to pay taxes on their salaries.

    Actualy Hardings is a cood company to work for, you work on the shops, so dont have to work in port. They have some 40 or 45 ships (they are a concession), work environement is not bad, and they are always deperate for employees.

    Promotions came easy too.
