Is wrestling really staged/fake?

My mom is always like "Please, this c**p is fake" everytime I watch it. Is it?

it is both but some of the injuries are real some are just to progress storylines and the outcomes are all predetermined and matches choreographed but it's the entertainment that the fans watch it for. Also a real wrestling match would last all of 4 minutes.

Yes. The only time you will se real wrestling is if you go to MMA fights, Olympics or world championship competitions where the  wrestlers are competing for their respective countries. But hey, it's a lot of fun to watch the WWE and wrestling like that. It is called sporrtsd entertainment because it's fun to watch.

ok, the word fake is not supposed to be used. Wrestlers know what they are going to do. their moves, and storyline are planned but is it fake. no. They still get hurt. that ring is hard stuff. they go out 6 days a week on the road entertaining the fans and putting their bodies on the line. even people who aren't highflyers like get hurt like umaga. Movies, and planned out but does your mom watch a movie and say oh that's fake. or watch any t.v. show including the news (the bigfoot story) and say that's so fake. scripted yes. Fake no. tell your mom to watch pro wrestling's greatest secerts. It's a tape that shows things are planned but if they don't go as planned can be really fatal. Also tell her to watch the undertaker edge h**l, and some ecw clips. these will change her decision unless she's a prick.

If you are watching wrestling like WWE then unfortunately yes it is staged. By staged i mean before the fight even begins the association already knows who's going to win the match. Really wrestling is a performance and the wrestlers are performers. A wrestler is really a very built gymnast and they all need to know how to execute their moves properly otherwise somebody can really get hurt. So yes there is some serious training involved even though it is "FAKE". So it doesnt mean that they don't know how to physically wrestle. The reason wrestling is the way it is, is because of the demands of people. Everyone would rather see someone get piledrived into the floor as apposed to just two fighters punching each other. Also, There are some wrestlers that have actually moved on to other careers involved with fighting.

Most of the matches currently are Scripted, but back in the day, there would be pro wrestlers who hated each other. this could sometimes turn a scripted match ( in wrestling terms "a work" ) into a real fight,( in wrestling terms " a shoot" ). It can still happened today but not in the WWE, they are far to managed to cause this to happen

Yes all the storylines and stuff are planned out and staged. The winners of the matches are predetermined. But most of the stuff that they do in the matches, like a chop to the chest, is real. Chair shots are also real. If you want a real wrestling company which also has much better wrestling, watch Ring of Honor.

to some extent, yes.

the moves are fake and the storylines too of course but sometimes when wrestlers injure themselves it can be quite deadly as then they'll be out of action.
