  1. yes... performance wise... xp is better.

  2. Yes, definitely

  3. Vista is better than XP if you have at least 1GB of RAM and 1Gigahertz processor. If you have an older computer I would recommend xp. XP also has more capability for drivers and software. I use vista with 1GB RAM and 1.6 Gigahertz and it works really fast. You can see the full system requirements for vista at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows... .

  4. Yes I hate my vista I only use my windows xp and linux.

  5. I own probably about 6 or 7 machines.  My last computer was hit by lightning.  It had XP on it.  I was happy (prior to the strike).  When I went to replace it, every lousy machine in the store had Vista "Home Premium" installed.  When I first fired up the new machine (using DSL), it went immediately on line and took about 45 minutes to up load all of the corrections and up dates.

Running my printer took quite a bit, I had to go on line and up load new drivers.  My digital camera has no new drivers available.  It will have to be replaced.

Vista had not been a very good experience for me.

  6. XP is faster..

If you have obscure printers or devices you probably won't get vista drivers for them.

You also need a h**l of a lot of ram and a decent processor to have a happy experience with vista.

If you are worried about XP security download XP SP3..

If you want to run Directx10 games..and you have a powerful PC - and want a topline gaming platform....then you will probably need vista.

If you don't and use it for browsing and general stuff..and fancy a change - get Linux Ubuntu  as it is about a hundred times  faster than either and prettier than both

  7. windows xp is better

because it is faster than vista

    vista is slow

  8. There is nothing wrong with vista but you need at least 2 gb of RAM(memory) to run vista, in order to run smooth. In order for a computer to be faster you need more ram. If you 1gb of memory don't install vista, stay with XP.

  9. If you already have XP then I would not upgrade to vista. VIsta takes up a lot more resources to yeah you will notice a big difference in performance, also since vista is based upon XP they are practically the same program. But if you have kids or want to run a small network at home then it might be worth it to upgrade to vista because the parental controls are much, much more powerful in vista and setting up file/printer sharing is much easier to do

  10. A lot of people might tell you not to install Vista because it's bloated and whatnot, but most of them haven't even tried it out.

From personal experience, Vista is much better than XP both speed-wise and security-wise. The speed difference is barely noticeable on new computers, although it might be considered one-tenth of a second slower due to the Aero special effects.

Overall, I recommend it. It's more updated and newer, unlike XP, which is almost eight years old.

  11. Depends how many ram you have. If you have like 1GB or more, i recommend Vista.
