tonight is the 2nd night where i've attempted to play , however every room of every level contains 0 people.

That is a misprint   there are players in the lounges,just click lounge and play.  lounges 1-4 always has players.

They're maintaining the server - was announced a week back. meanwhile they've kept only 2 or 3 rooms open for visitors. So there can't be all zero players - try the Social Rooms one of them is usually open.
