  1. The yam bean originally grew where the Andes met the Amazon and is locally produced in South and Central America, South Asia, East Asia and the Pacific.

    edit - thank you for pointing that out to me ,Sarah, but as i thought the question had such a simple answer maybe Popeski would have liked to see more information. isn't that what education is all about?

    To answer the questioner no it's not. Pulses are beans and lentils and things.

    The yam bean, despite its name, is grown for its root, which looks rather like a white beetroot.
