  1. No it doesn't do anything. It is kind of like flour.

  2. MSG is monosodium glutamate! It is a chemical compound that may be extracted from yeast or made in the lab. A llot of people are allergic to this compound.

But! In bread yeast or in baked products it is not noticible as it isn't concentrated the way it is for "flavor enhancing" purposes.

Do you want to eat unleavened bread for the rest of your life? As in crackers and tortillas and pita bread?

We can find something bad about any food! Someone is allergic to it, but that is maybe one out of a million people. So are all the rest of us supposed to leave that food alone just because Great Great Uncle Joe can't eat it?? I think not!!!

  3. No, yeast isn't bad for you.  Overdoing anything is bad for anyone, of course, and yeast can set off reactions in certain 'sensitive' individuals.  In immoderate quantities or in sensitive individuals, yeast can be harmful to one's health.  For a 'normal' person and in moderation, it's fine.

  4. the amount of msg in 2 teaspoons of yeast is at such an infinitesimal amount that it will have 0 affects on your health good or bad. The real impact comes from the other ingredients.
