  1. No mine is too young to go to school.

I was given exta tuition when they thought I couldn't speak English because I'm mixed race lol and grew up in Africa. And I was very quiet. I said No thanks, they still gave me the time. So I took it.

You should fight for it if you can

  2. yes my son has aspergers and when first diagnosed he got 5 hours a week support i fought for more and now hes at high school he gets full time support. Of course they can take it away just as quickly

  3. I think you need to clarify what country you're in and what kind of support you mean, in the UK the support available to children on the Special Needs register (School Action & School Action Plus) is very different to the support which may be available to a child with a Statement.

  4. If you are in the UK,  I can give an official stat, which is if your child is  Band D then they are entitled to 25 - 50% support - but this can be in a class/group/individual situation.

I dont think many children who receive support gets enough - but that is down to finances given to schools - and the number of kids now needing the extra support.

If you are fighting for more support - good luck.  Ask the staff what banding your child is and what support they are legally entitled to.  then check that they are receiving it.

  5. I am the child that is receiving additional support at School.

  6. not at school

  7. I am dyspraxic and am currently receiving excellent support at school I get from 10 - 25% extra time in exams (I can choose) I get to use a laptop for exams as well and I get help with organisation from learning support if your not getting enough just ask and if you have special needs you should be allocated special time if not you should fight for it

  8. According to my son's IEP updated in May 08 he will be getting 10 hours a week of special education, he is in first grade.  He was up for his triannual review and we disagreed with the school psychologists results.  We had an independent one done at the school's expense and will be revising the IEP shortly.  I am sure that much will be increased because the independent eval. recommends alot of stuff and by law it has to be addressed.
