Question:

Is your country best to study abroad in?

I'm planning on studying abroad junior year. I speak a little Spanish (I'll be done w/ 3rd level Spanish by then), but no other language. (Our school doesn't have good, good language programs for anything other than French and Spanish...). I live in the US

I think it'd be best to start out in Europe, since I've never been (and lots of English is spoken there).

My mom said it was alright.

The only thing is... I'd need a full ride to get there (as in scholarships). I haven't found any great scholarships yet... I've looked into Rotary, but they choose where you go AND you can't have 'romantic involvement.' That's too strict for me. I'm a teenager, right?! Haha.

Aside from all jokes, which country has great education (I'm in 3 adv classes!) and clubs (co-curriculars)?! Which is the best?!

  1. Sorry to tell you this, but you have to decide which is most important: Europe or the free ride.

Europe is notoriously the most expensive place you can go, whereas many Asian countries are dirt cheap to live in.

If you do `study abroad` through your school you`ll pay the same tuition as your university, but youll have to pay for the plane tickets and living costs. try and get a regular scholarship, or one specifically for study abroad students, but dont think that you can live in Europe for free. thats just crazy talk.

I went to china for 2 of 4 years, my FAFSA financial aid covered all tuition and living costs, plus i ended up having about 3000 USD to spend as i pleased. good luck!

  2. Well, Spain is a fun country, and since you know a bit of Spanish, studying there can help you build a more complete vocabulary and understanding of the language.  Barcelona is a great city to go to...  The UK could also be a great choice.
