Question:

Is your decision to NOT vote because of issues on a federal level?

The best part about voting is that you can choose what you want to vote on. Start with your LOCAL issues if the fed stuff irritates you. Most people I talk to are unhappy with stuff on the federal end, and forget or choose to ignore the fact that they can make an impact on the local end. Town meetings, buget votes. Come on, give it a shot!

  1. Most that do not vote may say that it is in protest or something they think of.

Truth is that they are to self centered to be bothered having to learn something.  Leave it up to others and then ***** abut it.

  2. You should ALWAYS vote - even when there is nothing to vote FOR, there will always be people and issues you want to vote AGAINST! So, VOTE!

  3. I only pass on voting for offices that I lack enough knowledge to make an informed opinion on.  That happened when I was in the Navy and voted absentee.  There was no way I could stay informed about all the local, and even state, issues.  But I voted in every presidential and congressional election.

  5. I vote in all local, state and federal elections (although, in addition to what Monk said, the electoral college also goes a long way towards making this citizen disgusted with the federal voting process).

I have to say that on the town level, in my town at least they don't make enough of an effort to keep the public informed as to when and where voting will be held and for what reason.  For those with internet access they could send emails, and for those without internet access they can send postcards.  Keeping people informed might go a long way towards getting them out to vote.

  6. It doesn't bother me that so many people don't vote or participate in the political process. If they're willing to let me decide for them, I'm  more than willing to do it.

  7. Voting is meaningless and will remain that way until corporate money and lobbyists are extinct!

  8. Anyone who doesn't vote should be forced to wear a button or pin at all times, saying that they didn't unless there are extenuating circumstances (fighting in Iraq and your voting officer sucks, you were in a coma or accident, ect..)  With the availibility of absentee ballots and the massive "get out the vote" drives, EVRYONE should vote that is able.  If you don't, you shouldn't be allowed to complain.  if you don't like any of the candidates, write in.  You are allowed to do that.  That is what I do every election.  Maybe if more people did that, and fewer just said "f*** it, I'm not going to bother", the poiticians WOULD have to listen to us.

But, in all honesty, if you don't vote, you should not be allowed to complain, protest, or argue with whoever is in power, it is your own d*** fault that they are there.

  9. I always vote.
