  3. nope mine say scholarships. they dont think its their responsibility to pay for it. my rents' are lame.

  4. No way, my Mom  is a tight-wad!!! My dad is non-existant.

  5. No, one is dead, and either way they never could of afforded it. I view it as something that is going to help me, not my mom, and do not expect any help anyway.

  6. Nope They want even get me a car! Sucks

  7. absolutely

  8. Yes, by paying for my living expenses and my car until I am finished with school.  The actual tuition is being paid for with student loans though.

  11. If Hillary Clinton is elected President she will make College affordable again!

  12. 25% they probably would pay more if i was close but they just say that so im determined; )

  13. There's a big difference between willing and able, and in this economy, I suspect there's a great many people who are having to chose between the two.

There are also a great many people who worked their way through college, or took out student loans and repaid them once they had a successful job.

I say be thankful they are willing to contribute.

  14. My dad was and is not helping me pay for anything in college because of my step-mother.Although, my mom and step-dad help me out alot. They help with my rent and send me extra money when I need some.As far as the tuition goes, I use federal grants, scholarships, and loans to cover that.I work part-time to help cover some costs.

  15. Well my parents are divorced and my dad has set up a college fund that will pay for pretty much all of public college. However, if I choose to go to a private college it will only cover about 1/4 of the cost. Hopefully my mom will chip in though.

My dad CAN afford to send me to a private college. Not all parents want to pay for all of their kids college. Don't get me wrong I'm thankful he's paying for anything. But not all parents want to help their kids even though they can.

  16. Nope, but tax player paid for mine. (Tuitiotn Fee Waiver, G.I. Bill) That's one sweet thing about american college.

  17. h**l no!

    they dont wanna pay ANYTHING!

they say i have to make money myself to pay it and get financial aid and stuff like that. instead of saving money for our college, they spend it on stuff they DONT NEED!

  18. naw

  19. It's a matter of being "able" not "willing".  All parents want to send their kids to college.  It's not like buying kids a car or some other luxury.  We pay what we can - simple as that.  My parents couldn't afford it.  I don't hold that against them at all.

  20. Maybe. Yes I guess. They should. Pay now, in 3 years we will be making double that and that we can pay them back. You need college. Im sure they would be willing to pay.

  21. my parents pay for me and my brother's college tuition. my semester tuition is about the same as their monthly mortgage bill. we just work to pay for books, school supplies and gas. if my parents weren't able to pay, they would tell me to take out a loan, but i haven't taken out a loan yet. i'm not even sure how they're paying my college tuition.

  22. My parents attempted to pay for my college and they paid for the first year out of their own pocket.  However, it is too much for them so I took out student loans for the rest of my college education while my parents helped out where they could... such as food expenses, etc.

  23. yes

  24. My parents paid my tuition and dorm room for the first two years.  I paid for everything after that.  I am considering telling my son I'll pay for his LAST two years of college, to give him the better deal and encourage him to go farther up than I did.

  25. My mom paid for my tuition the entire first year of school.  Then, I got a job and was able to pay my way for another year or so... then... it got too expensive so I took out loans.  I didn't expect my parents to pay for my college tuition, although I know they would have if I really needed them to.

  26. Yes, they are. But the way my financial aid worked out, they aren't paying anything, but I'm doing a lot of work study and taking out a couple thousand in loans.

  27. Thankfully, yes
