Is your preschool or daycare accredited by NAEYC? ?

  1. The daycare I worked at a long time ago is accredited. It is a lot of work, but well worth it. There are many requirements, so your best bet is to read up on it on-line. You have to start with a self-study, completed before applying for accreditation. Once you have completed the application process, you can then become a candidate for accreditation and you have a site visit from the NAEYC. You then have to maintain those standards.

  2. I did practicum in one center that was going through self-study for accreditation, then worked in another through self-study and after accreditation was granted. As has been stated, it was a lot of work. There are whole books about it. The websites mentioned are worthwhile, too.

  3. We are a religious exempt preschool.  You would have to go to the NAEYC site and see the requirements.  There are a lot of them, but it is a very prestigious accreditation when you receive it.  We do not have it.
