My daughter is about to be three and has very gapped teeth in the front. Its not just between her front two it seems to be all of them that are spaced apart. Im not saying its horrible, just spaced. Her dr says they will grow together and no we haven't seen a dentist yet...:S She sucks her fingers while she sleeps and I know that has something to do with it, we tried the product "thum" on her fingers and she still sucked them. Anyway, back to my question..... Did or does your toddler have spaced apart teeth and for those who did, did the teeth really grow together once they got older? Is she gonna need some type of retainer? Also she has an over byte pretty bad, will that correct more than likely? I know you guys aren't drs Im just asking those who experianced it what your experiance was/is like. Thanks!

  1. My 8 yr old has her teeth apart.. She never sucked her fingers and we were told yesterday by our dentist she might need braces in the future. We need to wait until all her teeth come out to have the braces on. Call your dentist and find out.

  2. The teeth are supposed to have gaps between them.  It's called primate spacing.  That just means that the teeth and gaps are holding the space for the bigger adult teeth to come in when she's older.  Once her adult teeth come in she'll more than likely be okay :)

  3. My 11 mths boy have it with his front teeth. And the doc say not to worry, unless when the permanent teeth is out and still spaced apart then he might need the brace. In fact my doc say its good as when the permanent is out his teeth will not be too squeezing and become crooked . My friend's son have this situation here, his baby teeth is dropping soon with 3 permanent teeth squeezing into 1 slot. So i guess that is what my doc means.Hope this helps
