this seems to show it as relatively,  not terribly toxic....

    however, this site says....

    http://www.cdms.net/ldat/ld02H005.pdf

    page one

"Triclopyr has properties and characteristics associated with chemicals detected in groundwater.  The use of this chemical in areas where soils are permeable, particularly where the water table is shallow, may result in  groundwater contamination."

and another site loves it to control blackberries in a wetland....??.....

what it contains is 2,4-D.... read here...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2,4-D

    the other ingredient, Triclopyr....read here...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triclopyr

    "....degrades rapidly in water...."....

personally, if it's just the one treatment, I'd not be too concerned.... now if he'd spilled it near the well=head, then I'd get upset..... here's a little more about 2,4D and water...

the stuff isn't used in a lot of countries.... and of course, there's a good reason for it.....but  it's okay to use here in US... dunno about where you are.....
