Zuclopenthixol decanoate and the acetate are widely used for treating schizophrenia in the UK, but I cannot find any mention of them being used in America or Canada.

  1. I am not aware  of this med being used.  I have worked at psych hospitals for 20 years on the East Coast, US

You are right, in psych there are no depot meds used where I am in DE.  The only time an IM injection is given is when the patient is a danger to self or others and out of control.  This is a standard cockail that is used in the ER's and all 3 psych hospitals in DE.  It is haldol 5, or 10, ativan 1 or 2 and benadryl 100mg.  Some patients that do take thorazine routinely or are allergic to haldol do take IM thorazine in their cocktail.  This cocktail is reserved for patients that are in need of a quiet room, and usually are in 4 point restraints.
