  1. Yes, you can live off of this salary quite happily. it's quite high as a starting salary to be honest.

That being said - how far you can go on a certain amount is a matter of how expensive your tastes are - the amount you can live within will go a lot further if you use it well.

Visit www.moneysavingexpert.com and have a pop into the forums - there are lots of people with good advice on how to make your money go further, how to find the best deals on services and purchases.

You can also sign up to a freecycle group - where people give away stuff like microwaves, freezers etc free of charge just for someone taking them away. I got a Bosch dishwasher for nothing, because the previous owner wanted a larger one for his growing family.

  2. Hi,

I'm actually living in the UK now and I lived on a lot less than £25k. I started off on £16k and comfortably could afford reasonable living (shared house though), car, food, some pleasures etc. That was up north though and Brighton is more expensive so I would say £20k there is a minimum start.

It really depends on the standards you want to have but yes £25k is good enough salary to live on. And if it's likely to improve it's a brilliant start!

    Good Luck!

  3. I earn £16,000 right now, and I can afford everything except a car. £25,000 is a very good salary for a single person. If pushed you could also maintain a small family on those earnings. My mother raised two children on £12,000.

  4. Yes ....I live on a lot less ! you will manage fine well done .

  5. No, your a broke *** mother ******!! :D

  6. that is a very good starting salary for a single person in the UK. and yes you can live off of it.

  7. For one person or a family of 5?

Thats about $50,000 doesn't seem like much  for Brighton to me... but I could be wrong haven't lived there for years.
