Is ıt ok to start your AC and your driving in a high speed and why?

  1. If you are talking about fuel economy with and without AC here is what I read.

    An average vehicle (and they gave the coefficient of drag) will cross over the "break even point" at about 34 MPH.  Now what that means is if you are driving above 34 MPH having the windows down will create enough additional drag to offset the energy saved by not running the AC.  So, the smart money is on windows up and AC running any time you are above 34 MPH.

    I don't recall the magazine's title, but it was in some sort of engineering journal.  Purely a magazine for the professionals.  It gave a ton of facts and figures and used several vehicles to gather the data presented.  In other words, it was a serious survey and not a guess being made by half a dozen guys sitting around watching a NASCAR race.


  2. I don't really know what you are asking? Are you asking if you can turn your A/C on when driving at high speed? If that is the question, the answer is yes, you can start your A/C at anytime.

  3. i never turn mine off when it gets hot its on.... and really when at speed it is less of a strain on the motor
