Isa Paez wins Women’s 200m butterfly gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Fort Lauderdale
Isa Paez of Metro AC Miami-F won gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on fourth day of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, July 15.
The 16-year-old Paez smothered efforts of her challengers in the distant butterfly discipline as she snared gold medal of the event. With her impeccable pace, Paez showed no mercy to her rivals and paved her way to the finishing blockade for top position.
Her immaculate effort remained considerably ahead of her opponents, as she touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.24 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Alex J Merritt of Area Tallahassee, who stayed 2.18 seconds apart and reached the finishing blockade for second position by producing a time of 2 minutes and 18.42 seconds.
The second position holder was trailed by Chris Herfurth of Lake Lytal Light, who stayed 2.13 seconds apart and occupied bronze medal of the discipline by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 20.55 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Al Yambor-Maul of Area Tallahassee, who stayed 0.13 seconds away from her former finisher and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.68 seconds.
Fifth finest spot of the race was secured by Megan Moroney of Saint Andrew’s-F, who stayed 1.40 seconds apart and posted a time of 2 minutes and 22.08 seconds.
Similarly, Moroney was traced by Maria A Lopez of South Florida Aquatics, who was 0.35 seconds behind and secured sixth best place of the discipline by posting an effort of 2 minutes and 22.43 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Namill Sanchez of Atlantis S. C.–FG, who stayed four body lengths apart and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 26.95 seconds.
Sanchez was chased by Avery Mohring of T2 Aquatics-FL, who ended her swim in eighth best place by posting a time of 2 minutes and 27.11 seconds.
In addition, Paez was happy with her effort in the 200m discipline and received her medal at the prize ceremony of the tournament.
