Isaac Chilemba overpowers Edison Miranda by unanimous decision – Boxing news
Isaac, the ‘Golden Boy’, Chilemba finally gave it his best shot and overcame Edison ‘Pantera’ Miranda with a unanimous decision in a ten round brutal match yesterday, Friday, at the Texas Station Gambling Hall & Hotel in Las Vegas.
Seems like Chilemba proved all his harsh talks right when he gave it to Miranda right up. The scores by the end of the fight remained 97-91, 96-92, 96-92. By round three, Miranda suffered an unwilled head butt which gave him brutal cut near his left eye
marking his weakness for the remaining rounds.
However, even though Miranda lost, he did put up a tough fight for the overconfident young fighter. The ESPN Friday Night Fights’ main fight that was actually planned for Yordanis Despaigne but later saw Chilemba as a replacement turned out to be a barbarous
clash between Miranda and Isaac. Initially, the fight was balanced by both fighters putting in their best efforts, but after the third round it was Isaac who led.
In fact, most analysts are of the view that initially, in the first three rounds, Chilemba staggered in the ring with no balance and control over himself. He was lucky to have Miranda injured with an unintentional head butt that brought him some opportunities
to capitalize on.
In the first two rounds, Miranda remained superior by giving in some hardcore shots to the energetic Golden Boy.
As reported previously, Miranda was never in good form to have this bout. At 31, he has lost his game and his age and overcome his potential. However, considering his recent performances, it could be said that this one was surely a better put up.
When Chilemba was called in to go head to head with Edison, most analysts claimed that it is an unfavourable decision for Miranda.
However, Miranda who is known for never backing out accepted the fight and went for it. Little did he know that it would be a harsh bout for him.
Probably the most important part of the match was when Robert Byrd, the referee, tailed both the fighters for rabbit punching which is surely something we do not see every day in boxing.
