2. Law of Gravitation - used to connect the falling apple on earth with the falling of the moon in orbit, thus connecting that the laws of earth and the "heavens" are the same.

Optics - spreading of white light into the rainbow spectrum, thus showing that can be decomposed into to seperate color that which themselves cannot be decomposed further; this proved that white light is not the fundamental, pure, and , again, "heavenly" color other intellectuals and religious types assumed it was.
