Isabella Paez pockets Women’s 200m butterfly gold: Day three – Venezuela Open Championships
Isabella Paez of EMIL pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly in the 14 and above category on third day of the Venezuela Open Championships in Maracaibo on May 19.
The 17-year-old Paez served notice of her talent in the distant butterfly discipline as she overpowered her strongest challenger in a comfortable manner for gold medal.
With her stupendous efforts, Paez remained two body lengths ahead of her opponents at the finishing end and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 15.88 seconds for gold medal.
Her gold winning effort remained 2.03 seconds faster from Paola Perez of TIBTA, who occupied silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 17.91 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Eliana Barrios of MASBO, who stayed 0.17 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 18.08 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the race was obtained by Careth Colmenarez of CEDAM, who was considerably slower from her preceding finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 22.14 seconds.
Colmenarez was chased by Elvismar Revilla of MASBO, who was 1.17 seconds apart and hit the finishing wall for fifth position by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 23.31 seconds.
Similarly, the 21-year-old Revilla was trailed by Albani DE Vita of PGTDC, who stayed 0.24 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 23.55 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Claudia Travieso of PIBOL, who was 1.50 seconds apart and reported a time of 2 minutes and 25.05 seconds.
Subsequently, Travieso was traced by Calida Aleta of CABOG, who remained one and a half body length slower from her preceding swimmer and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 26.60 seconds.
Paez was overjoyed with her stupendous efforts in the 200m discipline while the position holder received awards and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship. In addition, the session ended after the completion of all planned events.
