  1. It's only negative if 1/(1+A3)^A2) is greater than one or A3 is negative and (1-(1/(1+A3)^A2)) is positive.

  2. Both C C and primrosh have answered the original question which contains A1, A2, and A3.

    Here is your revised expression:

    (1-(1/(1+.1)^35))/.1 .......[Simplify the inner parentheses (1 + .1) = 1.1]

(1-(1/(1.1)^35))/.1 .........[Simplify (1.1)^35 = 28.1 but it doesn't really matter because what's important is that this is greater than 1.]

    (1-(1/(28.1))/.1 .............[Simplify 1/28.1 = .035]

    (1-.035)/.1

    (.126)/.1

    1.26

Your revised expression is equal to 1.26 so it will always be positive.

  3. No! Not necessarily.

It depends on the value of A.

The value of A can be positive or negative; less than one, equal to one or greater then one.

All the different values of A will give you a different result.
