http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566 defends MS Dhoni for not bringing him in soon after the lunch break on Sunday – Cricket News Update
The gangling Indian pacer, Ishant Sharma has defended captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 for not giving him ball immediately after the lunch on Sunday, saying that he himself had asked the skipper for a break after a hostile spell in the morning.
While talking to the media reporters at the close of Day four of the ongoing Lord’s Test, Sharma said that it was not Dhoni’s sole decision to rest him after the lunch break, rather, the skipper asked him if he wanted to bowl straightaway after lunch but
the bowler himself wanted to take the ball after a break.
"I am also human,” said Sharma when asked why wasn’t he given the ball at the start of the crucial second session of the day despite the fact he made quick inroads to leave http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 struggling at 62 for 5 in their second innings.
“I have a body to look after and there are three more Test matches. I had bowled 11 overs in the first session and during the break, Dhoni asked me if I wanted to bowl straightaway after lunch or if I preferred a break. I said I wanted a break," he added
further.
The 22-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 pacer, who had finished the first innings wicketless, made a strong comeback in the second innings, picking up 4 wickets in 22 overs conceding just 59 runs. Sharma’s successful spell included a double-wicket maiden as well in which
he removed double centurion of first innings, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IR-Bell-c1597 for a sweet duck – both caught behind.
Earlier former India batsman and the cricketing expert, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 helped the hosts survive the pre-lunch jolts with a 162-run
partnership for the seventh wicket as England ended up making 269 for six. Prior scored a century while Broad notched up a half century to give http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 a herculean target of 458 to chase.
In reply India could score only 261 runs before the whole team was rolled over in the 97th over of their innings. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SK-Raina-c2539 struck daring half-centuries but all went in vain as they lacked support from the rest of the batting
line-up. Seven of the Indian batsmen fell for scores below 20.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705 led the English attack as he returned with innings figures of 5 for 65 from 28 overs, followed by Stuart Broad who picked up three wickets during a spell of 22.3 overs.
