Ishant Sharma delays ankle surgery – Cricket News Update
Indian pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566, will delay his ankle surgery until the team’s tour against Australia, which starts later in the year.
Both teams will play 4 Tests matches, two T20’s and a tri series, with the Sri Lankans being the third team. The tour will be almost 2 months long and Sharma wants to take part in the much anticipated series, even if he has to delay his surgery.
The player suffered ligament damage on his left ankle in the third Test match of the England tour but bowled through pain. However after a proper look, the fast bowler was advised to rest, which effectively ruled him out of the limited overs series.
The youngster knows the significance of a series Down Under and for that he is taking appropriate rehabilitation treatment in order to make himself fit in three months time. A longer process effectively means surgery, which will keep the bowler out of action
for at least 6 months, a gamble he is not willing to take.
Talking to a leading newspaper, he said, “It [the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746] is a very important tour and nobody wants to miss it. So I'll get the surgery done only after the Australian tour.”
Ishant also added that surgery is a must, even though it means he could miss other important cricketing events, mainly the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League, which start after the Kangaroos tour.
"I have a ligament tear in my left foot, and there is also a bone impingement in my left ankle. Surgery is the only way out. But if I undergo that now, my foot will be in plaster for about three months and the rehabilitation in all could take about 6-8
months."
The pacer spearheaded the side against Poms after left-armer; http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379 injured himself on the first day of the first Test match at Lord’s.
Ishant has been in full running throughout the series, and was the leading wicket-taker for his team. He believes it has been a learning curve on bowling on English pitches and hopes to improve his bowling after returning from injury.
