The lanky Indian pace bowler, Ishant Sharma, is eager to take the ball against the Australian batsmen in the four-match down under Test series starting in Melbourne on December 26, 2011.
"I have been waiting for this tour for a long time," said Sharma while talking to the media reporters after troublesome ankle forced him to leave the field on the first day of drawn warm-up game against Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 Chairman’s XI at Canberra on December
15.
It was during http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ricardo-Gouveia-c84824 Ponting’s wicket in both the innings of Perth Test.
Sharma agreed that the last tour of Australia played a key role in earning him recognition as a pace bowler at the international arena.
"I went on the tour as a raw bowler and returned a finished product," reminisced Sharma.
"People came to know me after that tour, they talked about my bowling and it had to be a positive experience for me. I am really excited to go back there again," he further added.
The gangling Delhi pacer said that he was well aware of the expectations attached with him and has different plans up in his sleeves for the Australian batsmen.
"There are a lot of expectations from me because I had done a good job on my last tour there. I am charged up now. I have different plans for each and every batsman," he said.
There were growing concerns over Sharma’s fitness after he left the field having delivered just 5.3 overs on the opening day of the warm-up game against CA Chairman’s XI at the Manuka Oval. But the Indian team management and players quelled concerns over
his fitness.
Spearhead India pacer said that Sharma was scheduled to deliver only six overs and had walked off not due to a troublesome ankle but to remove strapping from his ankle that had loosened.
The tourists are hopeful Sharma will be fit in time for the high profile Boxing Day Test to be hosted by Melbourne.
