Ishvana vying to win Athasi Stakes
Ishvana is looking to stand first in the Canford Cliffs European Breeders Fund Athasi Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies & Mares) when she runs on the 7-furlong soft track of Curragh today, May 7.
The A. P. O’Brien-trained bay filly will show her guts against 4 strong rivals that include Gossamer Seed, An Ghalanta, Bulbul and My Free Lady. Containing €47,125 in the prize purse, the event is scheduled to start at 3:20 (GMT).
Ishvana has excellently won both the first and last races of her career. Out of her total 7 starts, she has also gained a couple of runner-up ranks.
The fantastic filly’s outstanding success in her last outing on May 2, 2012 has placed her at the top of the betting card for the Athasi Stakes. Now it is up to her how best she manages to use the favourite tag to her favour.
Considering her impressive track record, it is assumed that the brilliant daughter of Holy Roman Emperor out of Song Of The Sea will be able to make a big impact in the coming contest, having as high as 90 percent chances to finish first.
Among the other runners, An Ghalanta and Bulbul are likely to perform well in the race.
An Ghalanta bagged a couple of consecutive triumphs in August 2011. The J. S. Bolger-trained bay filly stepped ahead to finish 3rd in each of the two subsequent outings.
After starting her career with a runner-up position on April 17, 2011, the talented sprinter grabbed a second spot in each of the three back-to-back races in the month of July.
On the other hand, Bulbul has won 1 out of her total 3 starts so far. Kevin Prendergast’s bay filly excellently broke her maiden on October 16, 2011. She finished 8th against 8 competitors in her last outing on April 15, 2012.
Though the competition will be tough enough but Ishvana’s is likely to manoeuvre success to her favour convincingly. The race will have many twists and turns. Let us get ready for a rip-roaring action. Good luck to all the contestants.
