Islam Abbass - Jordan
The Palestinian-Jordan basketball player Islam Abbaas erupted with a game-winning double-double, leading Jordan to an electrifying 89-59 win over Indonesia in their third game of the 2011 FIBA Asia championship in Wuhan, China.
Abbaas, who plays as a forward, netted 14 points and clutched 10 rebounds to help his team register their second win of the tournament. Although Islam Abbaas didn’t take a shot from beyond the arc however the Jordanian superstar
was spot on from the field and the charity stripe and kept the score board ticking.
Abbaas also freed up a number of opportunities for his teammates and finished the game with 3 assists.
Kosuke Takeuchi - Japan
The 26 year old power forward of Japan Kosuke Takeuchi blistered away with a game-high 19 point and gathered 11 rebounds to spearhead his team for a third straight victory over the Syrian squad. Kosuke ignited a 12-0 run in the
second quarter of the game and gave Japan a comprehensive 34-24 lead going into the halftime, which became the winning moment for the team.
Takeuchi shot more than 70 percent from the field and buried all of his three free throws from the charity strip.
Japeth Aguilar - Philippines
Philippines showcased an epitome of teamwork on Saturday night against the lowly Bahrain in which every player played his part to marshal the team for a thrashing 113-71 victory. However, the performance of Philippines’ dynamic
power forward Japeth Aguilar became the highlight of the game who ripped apart the opposition with his extra special talent.
The 24 year old Aguilar came down the stretch and notched up a game-high 21 points and grabbed 12 boards in just 15 minutes of playing time. As always, Japeth’s shooting abilities impressed once again and he connected his shots
almost every time the ball went out of his hands. Japeth Aguilar landed 8 shots out of 10 from the field and connected 5 shots out of 6 free throws.
Rashed Al Zaabi - UAE
United Arab Emirates pivotal player Rashed Al Zaabi sparked the game with an electrifying performance against the hosts China. However Rashed failed to lead his team towards the victory due to lack of support from the remaining
players.
After spending 36 minutes on the court, Rashed Al Zaabi racked up a game-high 21 points, gathered 6 boards and handed out 3 assists to make the life difficult for the home team China. Rashed connected shots from all over the court
and proved his ability to dominate from anywhere.
