  1. they have been?  traditionally?

They have only been that way since WWI, because the west has been interfering with the Muslim world.

Before that, Philosophy has always been, by far, the most deep in the Muslim world, and has lead to several philosophic mindsets and thinking paths that are used today.  So no, they have not been hostile traditionally, those are just recent mindsets with the acceptance of the extremely strict interpretations of shira law.

  2. Anything islamic is hostile

    tGod bless

  3. They believe that any system of thought that attempts to answer fundamental questions about the human state and existence without using the Koran as a frame of reference is wrong. That is why philosophers like Ibn Rushd had their works burned and were exiled from the Islamic community.

MoeZ: You are wrong, philosophy has always been unpopular with Islamic theologians. There are others, like Ibn Rushd, who had their work burned and some were put on trial for philosophical thought that did not conform to the Koran.

Alex Soda: I am not talking about recent times, we can do that if you like. Historically, all philosophers had a hard time in Islamic societies.

  5. The guy above me doesn't know anything about what Islam is and what it teaches. I am a Muslim and i can tell you that Islamic theologians in this country and others don't reject philosophy its the extremists that reject philosophy. Muslims are very open to conversation and philosophy.
