For my shower, I'm being unconventional : a guy is organizing it for me, so guys will be invited... I'm not sexist ;) lol

He proposed an "island theme" (hawaii, carribean or other exotic destinations...) with alcool-free drinks etc... Do you have any inspirational idea for the main course? (Something not too expensive, tho, since there might be a lot of persons invited) thx a bunch!

  1. Check out this website!! Tons of fab recipes, the tiki tiki chicken really caught my eye. To really stretch dollars and make it tasty, use chicken thighs, wings and legs! Also be sure your friend checks out oriental trading company for party favors, Leis, grass skirts, tiki torches and colorful caribbean shells. A cheap center piece ideas: take a short vase, some sand, fill it with water and add a drop or two of blue food coloring, submerge a flower such as carnation or rose and it will look like a millon dollar party!

Ok on to the recipes, lol!!

  2. you could have bbqed kebabs on a stick with pineapple, pork / chicken, onion, capsicum. If the met will be too expensive, just leave it fruit kebabs.

fruit platter with watermelon & tropical fruits.

  3. Since islands are surrounded by water, why don't you do a variety of seafood? Casseroles and simple baked dishes like haddock and salmon would be easy enough.

  4. Well since you're having a baby, some sea food might not be best for you.

Fruits made to be tropical/Island-themed might be good.

I really like how you guys aren't having alcohol.

    Really good!

Decorations can be set up to make a mood of and Island-Theme.

As well, Islands have beaches, and beaches can and sometimes do have BBQ's.

So make thing like hamburgers, hotdogs ect.

  5. Shish-kebabs would be great!  When I do kebabs, I use chicken cubes, steak cubes, or shrimp, with baby tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, and sometimes eggplant.

You could also do Jamaican-jerk chicken.

Here's a recipe for a jerk-rub. Spread it on chicken before you grill it.
