Islandmagee looks favourite for National Hunt – Stratford Preview
Islandmagee looks to be in the most favourable position to bag his maiden victory at Stratford racecourse where he is going to participate in Sis Maiden Open National Hunt Flat Race on Monday, March 12.
The Evan Williams-trained bay gelding is geared up to compete against 13 rivals including Anywhere, Cayman Kirk, Diamond Tammy, Downunder Dickie, Fitz Volonte, General Girling, Hugo Drax, Yippee Kiyay, Moonshine Ruby, Toot Sweet, Monzino, Sirius Chesnut
and Spirit of Shankly.
The high-profile Class 5 contest of 2m110y distance is scheduled to begin at 5:10 (GMT). The total prize money reserved for the event is £1,949.
Islandmagee started his career on May 3, 2011. The five-year-old novice runner delivered an outstanding performance in his maiden outing entitled as “Finlay Motor Group 4yo Inh Flatrace” at Punchestown and finished third against 23 competitors.
In his second and last race at Bangor-on-dee on December 14, 2011, the talented horse stroke again and notched up fourth spot against 13 opponents.
These two races have exposed Islandmagee’s skills to a great extent, establishing him as a potential runner in the eyes of the bookmakers.
In his very first outing at this track today, the young gelding is expected to demonstrate a decent run and produce impressive result.
Among the other runners, Spirit Of Shankly and Hugo Drax are likely to do well in the contest.
Hugo Drax grabbed fourth spot in his first and last outing at Warwick track on January 14, 2012. The champion trainer David Pipe’s bay gelding will run confidently at Stratford as well.
On the other hand, Spirit Of Shankly has also run just for once so far. The trainee of Charlie Longsdon finished seventh in that one race on February 10, 2012. He is supposed to perform with passion today.
Thus, Flat Race will be a close competition. There will be a lot of sensation in the event.  Each of the competitors will try his best to win. Let us see who manages to achieve his maiden victory. Good luck to all the runners.
