Ismael Reinoso and Alexis Geverjuan surge into second round of 2011 Goal Pilipinas - Bingo Bonanza
Philippine’s Ismael Reinoso and Alexis Geverjuan have entered into the second round of the Boy’s Singles Under-15 category, in the 2011 Goal Pilipinas - Bingo Bonanza, held at Bacolod City, Philippines, on Tuesday, May 31.
In the first round of the event, Ismael put up a good show against Nesan John Muleta in a straight-set match of 20 minutes, whereas, Alexis managed to win against Kristian Paolo Barrios in two-sets of 30 minutes.
Ismael showed no mercy to his opponent in the opening set of the match by playing outstanding badminton. He played an attacking game in the entire set and won it by a superb margin of 21-11, by consuming only 11 minutes in the court.
In the second set, Nesan tried to play positively, but his opponent was playing a perfect game in all corners of the court. Ismael clinched the second game in just 9 minutes with a one-sided score of 21-10. The 20-minute match ended-up in favour of Ismael with a 21-11 and 21-10 score on the board.    
In another match of the Boy’s Singles category, Alexis had to work hard to chuck out Kristian in two games. In the first set, both players worked very well in the first-half of the game and were level at 10-10, where Alexis scored a point by executing a powerful smash in the back-hand side of his opponent, which earned him a slight lead of 11-10.
After the interval, Alexis put more pressure on Kristian by increasing the pace of the game. He controlled the rallies by picking the bird early. His stroke placement was perfect, which helped him to win the first set in 14 minutes by a difference of 21-17.
In the second game, Kristian played better badminton in the starting half and reached at 11-10. Alexis geared up his speed at this stage and levelled the score by reaching 15-15. The score remained equal until 20-20, when Alexis played smartly and won the set by a close margin of 22-20, in just 16 minutes. The 30-minute match ended with a 21-17 and 22-20 margin.
