Isn't Arguing About Politics This Way Pointless?

Starting to get exasperated with the politics section of Answers!

I'm a Democrat and I have admittedly have a little fun every now and then. But I try to come at the serious questions in an unbiased manner.

If I criticize a Republican, people claim that I'm biased and that I'm not going to say anything positive about the Republican candidate. If I praise something a Republican has done, Democrats claim I'm a Repub in disguise.

I am also willing to criticize my own candidate, but if I do so, I'm also a Repub in disguise. And if I praise my own candidate, all of my points are invalid because I apparently worship my candidate.

And this is not just true of my experience. From what I've seen, it's happening to everyone. People who are unbiased are labelled as impostors and people who praise their own campaigns and criticize others seem too narrow minded for any other option.

Can we remedy this and if not, why do we bother?

all the bickering is counterproductive and stupid quite frankly.

it gets in the way of having a positive and intellectual conversations about the problems in this country and the people were thinking of voting into the white house..

were all live in this nation and it's a pity people cannot find a middle ground.

This is the nature of this beast, my friend.  You will not find many mature answers in the Elections section, especially if you ask for them.

I only come on here to find out what the other side is saying and to play verbal fisticuffs with the right-wingers.  I do not come on here for any kind of real public discourse.

ADD-ON: Watched Obama's acceptance speech again tonight after McCain was done with his.  Kind of made me feel bad for all the attacking and name-calling I've been up to over the last couple of days.  Obama's reluctance to resort to cheap attacks is one of the things I've always admired about him.

From now on, I will exercise the presence of mind to stick with intelligent, well-thought-out answers only.  Any question that tempts me to go "Yeah, well you're an idiot too!" is not worth answering.
