Question:

Isn't Car Insurance cheaper with older cars??

I thought car insurance was supposed to be cheaper with an older car? However when I looked up an older car, the price of insurance still came out as the same as a newer car. I'm supposed to be getting a 1991 corsica from a friend. When I looked up the insurance for such a car through progressive, it still came out as the same price of a 2001 hatchback I looked at about 5 months ago. I need some help.

  1. Unless you have trouble getting insurance through other companies, Progressive is not a good choice.

  2. For automobile insurance the obvious way to get a fantastic quote is do a rate comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you choose similar options with the same limits, auto make, location, etc so that all things are a good comparison.

What I always recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have big name insurers and will give many prices on car insurance polices.

  3. It is basced on the driver recorder, age and the size of the engine.

  4. Use the search engine like google or yahoo to brainstorm some ideas first if you want to obtain the massive information,if you do not want to spend too much time, here is a good resource for your reference about your questions.http://carinsurance.expertsupport.info/a...

  5. I think it might depend on the car--like if it's a sports car or something. Not real sure though.

  6. Are you getting just liability? The older car won't be any cheaper if so since you're not really insuring the car itself, you're basically  paying for insurance for damage you might cause with the car, which has nothing to do with it's age.

Only collision rates are affected by the value of the car.

  7. It all depends on the safety features on the car, airbags, abs, security features ect...and each car has a crash test rating.Older does not mean cheaper insurance by any means because of safety reasons.Your age and driving record and with some insurance co even your credit score plays a role.
