Question:

Isn't Christianity supposed to set me free?

from all the "sins" the churches claim?... such as p**n addiction, being hard on myself, etc. I just feel the very opposite way. I feel like i'm under tons of obligations that I have to deal with for the rest of my life. Well there are tons of benefits I have received from God since I tuned to a Christian 3 years ago, but I still miss the freedom that I used to enjoy. What can I do other than praying to get the feeling back?

  1. Lead us not into temptation,

    And deliver us from evil.

    Besides praying - help others.

    God love you!

"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."

    2 Corinthians 3:17

  2. Have faith and ask for the Holy Spirit to help you.

  3. It´s Jesus who sets you free, not religion. The churches have so many different doctrines about what the rules should be, that it can seem like bondage, and sometimes it is!. God´s only law is love, to love Him, others and yourself. You have to find a fellowship that you can feel is like your family, who loves you, and can help you with these "temptations" you are battleing with from your past. God does make it easier for us to give up things that are bad for us, but some churches think that everything is bad for us, and it can get discouraging and frustrating. Like I said, God´s law is love, so if it is the loving thing to do, do it. If it is harming someone else or yourself, don´t do it. That makes living a Christian life alot easier, don´t you think?

  4. you should replace the negative thing that u used to do with positive things. for exam. instead p**n, read bible, instead of being harsh on self help others. remember who says that being a christian would be easy? being a christian is about fighting your darkest desires and your sins

  5. Just live free.Do you believe that the laws from nonsense can't be proven guy?

  6. ask for forgiveness that you are wanting something that is not good for you, and ask Him to show you the way.  I'm not sure what that "feeling" is, but if you believe in God and feel like you are lacking a feeling, you might consider reading the Scriptures more closely and possibly getting into a group with others who feel the same way.  God is perfect and He leaves nothing out, so talk to Him about it.  He can show you the answer!!!  ;)

God will give you back 200% of what you give him: sincerity, honesty, communication.

  7. What are the things that make you feel in bondage?  Do you feel you can't do fun things, or do you think God frowns on sexuality?  God is all things, and having fun is a part of life!  My advice?  Just lighten up, enjoy God's planet, and your fellow humans!  Make God a part of all you do!  Swimming, studying, eating, s*x...  Surely the God who gave us this planet wants us to be free.  So, be free!

    EDIT:

On second thought, I agree with Lenor V.  Except I think it's the Christ mind is what sets us free.  I left out the part about 'harming none'.  I believe as we align ourselves more closely with God, as we understand God to be, that our understanding of God clarifies, and we become more like her/him.  So, yeah...  Harm none, and have fun!

  8. if that is the case then why are Kent Hovind and Jim Baker still in prison?

  9. Don't do stupid things

  10. Get on your knees and ask God to send the Holy Spirit who teaches you all things and convicts of sin and helps you overcome the p**n addictions, etc.  Trust the Holy Spirit who purifies and refines.  What God begins in us He is more than able to finish.  You probably aren't where you want to be, but you certainly aren't as sinful as you use to be.  Keep your eyes on Jesus and keep your eyes off of the world.

  11. Becoming a christian is starting on a path.  you are at the beginning of the path.  Read St. Paul and how he tells people that we are at war with the flesh.  How he has a thorn in his side that he has asked God to remove but that God said that it was there to keep him humble.  Welcome to the human condition.

Second. Feeling?  thats what is wrong with most of the christian churches today they want a feeling.  Religion is a decision, a way of life, it does not remove the obstacles of life nor does it work like a happy pill.

So what are you praying for?  that these obstacles be removed?  I would suggest that you should be growing closer to christ through your prayer life, because you want to develop a relationship with God not just use him to get things you want out of life.

  12. No...It's Neo who set me free.

  13. why do you want to do those things?

  14. Simply because you've accepted Christian beliefs into your life doesn't mean that you're going to be immune from all of the temptations that you see in the world.  If you believe that people have free will...and I do...then being free is a choice that you get to make each moment of your life, and, for all of us, our lives are works in progress.  One of the things you can do, besides praying, is to do more good works (i.e. volunteering for charity work).

  15. thats strange...i feel the opposite of what you feel...since i became a Christian i have more freedom and deep joy than i never had growing up as a Buddhist...

  16. Yes... you are free to give any amount you like to the Church above your full and prompt tithe and offering...

  17. Let the Holy Spirit reign in your heart and try yo follow the convictions that you recive from Him, and pray pray pray

  18. You are free from the consequences of a broken law. People who break the law of chastity get diseases whether they are "saved" Christians or non christian. There may be a temporary pleasure in breaking a law but there is a consequence (punishment) affixed. We are free because we won't have to suffer for a broken law. Service is the answer.

Get involved in serving others so you don't think of yourself so much.
