Then why does Amy Lee from Evanescence look non-Asian? Is it because her husband's name is Lee? If so, then what's her maiden name?

  1. I knew a girl from Hong Kong whos last name was Lee Maybe she was able to keep her name and maybe she lost her asian look as her genes were added to many American genes. Also Lee did not come from her husband as I found out in this arcticle:  Amy Gets Married!

It's official. Amy is now Ms. Amy Hartzler! The couple tied the knot in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 5th 2007, to Josh Hartzler, her Fiance since January of this year.(http://www.amyleeworld.com/)  Lee may also be an American name- this is possible, also alot of famous people happen to change their names as they get famous so less fans can find them...

Also on another web-site of her bio it says :

She has said, flat out, she is a Christian and is "very" in touch with her spirit.

So yes I do believe she is a christian.

And I think she is asian because one of her famous grammy outfits was designed by a japanize designer.

    Hope I helped

    Becca

  2. Lee is also a common English surname.

  3. There's two kinds of Lees, Li, Lee. Li would be Chinese, I guess, and Lee is undetermined with me. But Cho would be chinese, or Chan.

  4. "Fred and Edward" gave a good answer, but it is inaccurate to say "last name" as many Asians put their family name first. It is better to use the terms "Surnames" or "Family names".

Yes, "Lee" and "Li" and "Lii" are both Chinese and Korean family names., and it is also a name used as both a given name and a family name amongst English-speaking people.

Lee Kwuan Yu is a Chinese (Teochew) and was Prime Minister of Singapore.

Lee Yoseph (Joe Lee) was a friend of mine and was a TV news cameraman in Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand during the Second Indochina (Vietnam) War.. He was Korean.

  5. I hope this is what you are hunting for:  Amy Lynn Hartzler (née Lee, born December 13, 1981 in Riverside, California), best known as Amy Lee, is an American singer-songwriter and classically-trained pianist. She is co-founder and lead vocalist of the alternative metal band Evanescence. Her influences range from classical musicians such as Mozart to modern artists like Björk, Tori Amos, Danny Elfman,[1] and Plumb.[2]

    [edit] Early life

Lee was born to parents John Lee, a disc jockey and TV personality, and Sara Cargill. She has one brother, Robby, and two sisters, Carrie and Lori. Lee had a third sister, who died in 1987 at the age of three from an unidentified illness.[3] The song "Hello" from Fallen has been reported to have been written for her late sister, as well as the song "Like You" from The Open Door with the lyrics, "I long to be like you, sis; Lie cold in the ground like you did," also hinting at the death of her sister and her grief for it.[4] Lee took classical piano lessons for nine years. Her family moved to many places, including Florida and Illinois,[5] but eventually settled in Little Rock, Arkansas, where Evanescence started. She graduated from Pulaski Academy in 2000 and also briefly attended Middle Tennessee State University. Lee has stated that she is of mostly Scottish and English heritage.[6]

In an interview on AOL Music, Lee revealed that the first songs she remembered writing were called "Eternity of the Remorse" and "A Single Tear". The first was written when she was eleven years old and wanted to become a classical composer, and the second was for an assignment when she was in the eighth grade.[7]

    [edit] Founding

She co-founded the band with Ben Moody. The two met at a youth camp after he heard Lee playing Meat Loaf's "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" on the piano.[8] Within a month, the pair were playing acoustic sets at Arkansas book stores and coffee houses,[9] and they eventually recorded two EPs, Evanescence EP (1998) and Sound Asleep EP (1999), selling them at various local venues. In 2000, Evanescence recorded the longer EP Origin. This demo contains three songs from the debut album Fallen and was written by Lee and Moody: "Whisper", "Imaginary" and "My Immortal". Whereas "Whisper" and "Imaginary" underwent further modifications before being included on Fallen, "My Immortal" is virtually identical. A later band version of "My Immortal" was made available for download for those who had bought an official version of Fallen through their official web site, but required that a CD checker program also be downloaded for verification before it would play.[10] The band version was included on later copies of Fallen, notably the Brazilian and Argentine editions.

    Surname: Lee

This famous name recorded as Lee, Lees, Lea, Leas, Lease and Leese is of Olde English origin. It is usually locational and derives from any of the places named with the pre 7th Century element "leah". This translates as "an open place" in a forest or wood, but may describe a water meadow, the word having different meanings in different parts of the country. Examples of the place names include Lee in Buckinghamshire and Hampshire, and also Lea in Cheshire, Lincolnshire and Wiltshire. The name may also be topographical, for someone who lived at a clearing or pasture, as in the surname 'Atlee'. The name is one of the earliest recorded (see below) and early examples include Turqod de la Lea, in the 1193 Pipe Rolls of Warwickshire, Roger de Lees of Norfolk and Richard de la Lee in the 1272 Hundred Rolls of Wiltshire, whilst Robert Leese is recorded in the Wills Register of the county of Cheshire in 1593. Examples from church registers include John Lee, who married Agnes Masset in London in 1550, and Anne Lease, a widow, who married William Sulham also in London in 1577. Sir Henry Lee (1530 - 1610) was master of the ordnance and personal champion to Queen Elizabeth from 1559 to 1590, when his son took over the position. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Ailric de la Leie, which was dated circa 1148, in the "Charters of Northamptonshire", during the reign of King Stephen, known as "Count of Blois", 1135 - 1154. Surnames became necessary when governments introduced personal taxation. In England this was known as Poll Tax. Throughout the centuries, surnames in every country have continued to "develop" often leading to astonishing variants of the original spelling.

  9. Yes. Robert E. Lee was probably the most famous Korean in the USA. He came to Virginia in 1841, learned to soldier and speak English, then was put in command of the Confederate Army. He managed to beat Hooker, Grant and McClellan when outnumbered 3:2 or less, but when he was outnumbered 2:1 or better his armies lost. He surrendered in 1865 and opened a Kim Chee shop in Richmond.

  10. It's also an extremely common Irish last name.
