I have never understood why Americans do not get offended when they hear that economique simpleton theory. Does it not show a mentality of privileged superiority detached from the people? Isn't it like saying, let us take all the best for ourselves and let the rest of the people have our crumbs? When the starving French people came after the despots in the 1789 Revolution, Marie-Antoinette said "Let them eat cake" The poor woman had no concept of poverty or hunger and was mostly ignorant of the affairs of state. Sometime I wonder if some of our privileged politicians have any ideas what it is like to be a poor or an average American struggling to survive. Of course, after more than thirty years or Trickle-down, we now can see that it does not work!
